RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Randi Field perhaps received an uptick in attention ahead of her Bellator 293 fight Friday, and that might parallel what’s warranted given her performance.
In a 120-pound catchweight prelim at Pechanga Resort Casino, Field (4-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) proved to herself and the world she’s able to fight for a full 15 minutes when she defeated Ashley Cummins (7-7 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) via unanimous decision.
Field, 32, learned a lot about herself over those three rounds.
“That fight went great for me,” Field told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a news conference after the fight. “Honestly, I was worried about my cardio going the distance. But I actually felt great, and I probably felt I could’ve done two more rounds. … Yeah, I learned I can go the distance. I learned I can take a punch. I learned I can keep a smile on my face. You watch the video, I know you can see my smile a few times. I’m so happy to be here. We are so lucky to be a part of this organization.”
While fans continue to familiarize themselves with Field as an athlete and competitor, she hopes her personality and character too shine through as her screen time increases. Field thinks she has a lot to share with the world.
“I know who I am and I know I’m a great person,” Field said. “I’m a great role model. I’m a great mom. I’m a great mom. I’m a great friend. I’m really excited for people to get to know me and I hope I can inspire other people as well.
