As staycations have become more popular, so has the appetite for unique accommodation.
Across the North East, there are plenty of quirky places to stay to choose from - with a treehouse that opens up to the stars in Kielder to a romantic castle for two in County Durham.
And now Ramside Hall in Carville, County Durham, has added another option for an unforgettable getaway, with four new stunning glass-fronted 'A-Frame' treehouses open after their completion last month.

The hotel unveiled designs for the treehouses in the woodland adjacent to the 18th fairway of The Prince Bishops Golf Course in 2021, and they are now available to book.
Named after British birds, Chaffinch, Robin, Pheasant and Magpie have been built to complement the hotel's four larger treehouses which are raised on stilts among the surrounding woodland.
Though smaller, the new treehouses have a range of luxuries from saunas and hot tubs to free-standing copper baths. Each has an en-suite bedroom on the upper level, while a lounge, toilet, shower and small kitchen are on the lower floor. They can sleep up to four guests and are pet-friendly too.
The four-star hotel's three larger treehouses have been a 'huge success' since they opened in 2020, while a fourth, which will mainly be used as an intimate wedding venue, is also under construction.
John Adamson, owner of Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa, said the completion and launching of the new lodges so soon into the year, “really heralds a fresh new start after the upheaval caused by Covid."
He continued: "Working on these has kept us all optimistic, and now they are complete and ready to welcome their first guests."
After a positive response on their unveiling last year, John said: "They are going to be the perfect choice for anyone wanting a real getaway but with the added bonus of having all of our other facilities such as the spa, restaurants, and golf on the doorstep if they want to use them."
