Rams will hold joint practice with Bengals this summer

The Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals will square off again in 2022, a rematch of Super Bowl LVI. Only, instead of Matthew Stafford and Joe Burrow going toe to toe, it’s likely to be John Wolford and Brandon Allen dueling.

That’s because the game is scheduled for Week 3 of the preseason, so it means exactly nothing toward either team’s record. In the week before that preseason finale, the Rams and Bengals will practice together, according to Kevin Modesti of the Los Angeles Daily News.

During those practices, we should see Stafford and Burrow, as well as the Rams and Bengals’ other top players, given the emphasis these teams put on joint practices.

The Rams value joint practices immensely, seeing it as a replacement for preseason games for their starters. It’s a controlled environment with lesser risk of injury, while also giving players a chance to compete against opponents from another team, rather than their teammates.

The date of Rams-Bengals hasn’t yet been announced, but it’ll be sometime in the last week of August.
