Teams were busy leading up to the 4 p.m. ET trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon, but the Los Angeles Rams sat idly by as the deadline passed. They chose not to make any moves this year, standing pat with the roster they currently have.
That’s not entirely surprising, given their lack of trade chips available, as well as their reluctance to trade future picks for veterans during this rebuilding phase. Sure, they could’ve torn everything down and tried to trade Aaron Donald, who has a no-trade clause, or Cooper Kupp, but they wisely kept the team intact and will roll with who they have – a particularly good move knowing Matthew Stafford’s thumb injury isn’t as serious as first feared.
The Rams’ rivals were active before the deadline, though. The 49ers traded a third-round pick to the Commanders for star pass rusher Chase Young on Tuesday, the Seahawks acquired Leonard Williams from the Giants for a 2024 fourth-rounder and 2025 fifth-round pick on Monday, and the Cardinals even made a move; Josh Dobbs was traded to the Vikings in a late-round pick-swap.
The Cardinals aren’t in contention in the NFC West, so it’s no surprise that they traded Dobbs with Kyler Murray on his way back. However, the 49ers and Seahawks both got better by acquiring Young and Williams, respectively.
The Rams still have to face each of their NFC West foes once more this season, so they’ll see Young and Williams later this year.
