Rams select UCLA safety Quentin Lake with 211th overall pick in 2022 NFL draft

After making one pick each in the third, fourth and fifth rounds, the Los Angeles Rams made their first of three selections in the sixth round at No. 211 overall.

With that pick, they selected UCLA safety Quentin Lake. He’s an Irvine native, so he’ll be playing close to home, a perfect landing spot for the former Bruin.

Lake is the son of former Steelers cornerback Carnell Lake, an All-Pro during his playing days. He doesn’t have great speed, only running a 4.59 in the 40, but he’s instinctual and always seems to find the ball.

He’s a similar player to Jordan Fuller, who also went in the sixth round and didn’t bring great athleticism to the NFL level out of Ohio State. Now the two will be sharing a secondary in L.A.

During his time at UCLA, Lake did make plays on the ball. He had six interceptions and 15 passes defensed in his career, totaling 179 tackles in five seasons.
