Kyren Williams sprained his ankle in last week’s win over the Cardinals, and Sean McVay originally said he thought the running back would be OK. However, the injury appears to have been worse than anticipated.
On Saturday, the Rams placed Williams on injured reserve. As a result, he’ll be forced to miss the next four games, which means he can’t return until Week 12 at the earliest. The Rams play the Steelers, Cowboys and Packers before their Week 10 bye, and then they’ll face the Seahawks in Week 11.
Williams is eligible to return in Week 12 against the Cardinals, the team he got hurt against. To help fill the void, the Rams promoted Darrell Henderson Jr. from the practice squad this week, so he will be active against the Steelers on Sunday.
They also have Zach Evans, Royce Freeman and Myles Gaskin on the 53-man roster, though it’s unclear who will handle the bulk of the carries.
