The rich get richer when your head coach is Sean McVay and your general manager is Les Snead. After the Los Angeles Rams made last year’s fifth-round rookie in Puka Nacua a household name last season, it appears they may have found yet another diamond in the rough at receiver with sixth-round pick Jordan Whittington.

As fans will recall Nacua took over the Matthew Stafford lead offense early on and became one of the most productive receivers in the league, posting 105 catches and over 1,400 yards. Now Stafford has to be licking his chops given what Whittington has shown early on in training camp and in the preseason. As it stands Whittington leads all receivers in the league in preseason catches with 11 receptions on 17 targets, snagging 126 yards from those looks.
Whittington has looked every bit the part as well, showing off some impressive route running and yards after the catch ability. Given the fact that the Rams have one of the deeper receiver cores in the league with the aforementioned Nacua, Cooper Kupp, Demarcus Robinson, and Tutu Atwell, it may be hard for Whittington to see the field early on. However, should the need arise for Whittington’s services it is clear there won’t be any missed beats within this red-hot Rams’ offense.
