Rams DB Quentin Lake responds to Dan Campbell’s ‘see you in two weeks’ jab

Intentional or not, Lions coach Dan Campbell gave the Rams some bulletin board material after Sunday’s game. During his postgame handshake with Kevin O’Connell, he told the Vikings coach, “I’ll see you in two weeks.”

By saying that, Campbell implied that the Vikings will beat the Rams to set up a rematch with the Lions in the divisional round, suggesting Los Angeles has no shot of beating Minnesota.

During an interview on NFL Network Tuesday, Quentin Lake responded to Campbell doubting the Rams. Lake doesn’t think Campbell intended to shade the Rams, but he says they’re going to “keep tabs on that a little bit.”

“I don’t think it was meant in any way to be bad,” Lake said. “I think it was just two competitive teams that eventually – you know, whatever. They might see each other, they might not. But at the same time, you have to see us. You have to see us. The Vikings have to see us. You never can overlook an opponent. Not to say that they are, but I kind of gives us a little bit of, ‘OK, that makes sense. We’ll keep tabs on that a little bit and hopefully somebody doesn’t eat their words.’”

There’s no doubt Rams players and coaches heard what Campbell said and it should fire them up regardless of his intent.

“We have to focus on the Vikings, that’s the No. 1 thing,” Lake added. “We have to go out there and perform our best on Monday night. But to see that, it’s like, ‘Oh, OK.’ I hope that message doesn’t lead the Vikings to overlook us because they still have to come see us at SoFi.”

If the Rams do beat the Vikings, they could be headed to Detroit to face the Lions in the divisional round if the Eagles and Buccaneers also win. NFL fans might be rooting for a Lions-Vikings rematch, but Lions-Rams might be even more exciting.
