Rams come in at No. 24 in pre-training camp power rankings

There aren’t lofty expectations surrounding the Los Angeles Rams in 2023 following a disastrous campaign from the team in 2022. Touchdown Wire’s Natalie Miller compiled power rankings for all 32 teams in the NFL ahead of training camp, and the Rams were ranked 24th.

Here is what Miller said about the Rams entering the 2023 season:

The Rams are very clearly in a bit of a rebuild, and while they still have multiple stars on the roster, it is tough to envision them lifting the team above mediocrity. The Matt Stafford to Cooper Kupp connection could be enough to lift the Rams out of the pit they find themselves in.

Since the conclusion of the 2022 season, the Rams have parted ways with a handful of key contributors. On the offensive side of the ball, Allen Robinson and David Edwards are the most notable losses this offseason.

Meanwhile, the defense will no longer have Jalen Ramsey, Leonard Floyd, Bobby Wagner, Greg Gaines, A’Shawn Robinson, Nick Scott or Taylor Rapp. The number of first- and second-year players that are expected to start alongside Aaron Donald in 2023 has led many to believe that they’ll struggle mightily this season.

Considering the Rams were willing to eat a boatload of dead money this season, it’s evident the organization is planning for the long-term. This season is viewed as more of a year for young players to carve out long-term roles rather than a year for the Rams to compete for a Super Bowl.

With a handful of question marks surrounding the Rams ahead of the upcoming season, Miller joins a long list of analysts and fans alike that aren’t high on the team in 2023.
