Over the summer, Rams coach Sean McVay revealed that he and his wife Veronika were preparing to welcome their first child during football season, and that most of the offseason was spent in anticipation of the birth of their son.
That life-changing event will be here “any day now,” the Super Bowl-winning coach told reporters on Friday.
When asked about contingency plans for whenever Veronika is ready to give birth, McVay acknowledged the possibility of that falling on a Rams’ game day. He said he will miss the game that day, in that case.
“In terms of if he comes during a game or something like that? I won’t be at the game,” McVay said. ”It’s coming up here in the next couple weeks. It could be any day now.”

The Rams coach went on to praise his wife for how she’s handled the pregnancy in very McVay-like fashion.
“Really feel fortunate that it’s been a smooth pregnancy. My wife has been incredible,” he continued. “It hasn’t quite hit me yet. He’s [McVay’s soon-to-be-born son] active right now, it seems like he’s ready to come at any moment, and so what a blessing that will be. And what an incredible job my wife Veronika’s done in terms of handling the pregnancy, she’s a stud. And so this gives me total gratitude and appreciation and newfound respect watching it unfold in real time, and when the little guy comes here it’ll be such a blessing for us. But it could be any day now.”
That day could conceivably be Sunday, when the Rams play host to the Cardinals. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
