Carson Wentz will be the Rams’ primary backup behind Matthew Stafford moving forward. According to Tom Pelissero, the Rams are waiving Brett Rypien from the active roster after adding Wentz.
Rypien made one start for Los Angeles against the Packers on Sunday, but he struggled mightily and only completed 13 of 28 passes for 130 yards. He also threw an interception and lost a fumble.
The Rams signed Rypien this offseason to compete with Stetson Bennett, and he ultimately became the backup after Bennett was placed on the non-football illness list.
Aaron Wilson reported that the Rams are waiving Dresser Winn from the practice squad, as well, so that leaves Wentz as the only other quarterback on the roster behind Stafford.
With Carson Wentz headed to L.A., the #Rams are waiving QB Brett Rypien, per source.
Two days after starting against the #Packers, Rypien will head to waivers while Wentz becomes Matthew Stafford’s backup.

Sean McVay said on Monday that he’s optimistic about Stafford playing in Week 11 after the team’s bye week, so the hope is that his absence will only be one full game.
