Rams are projected to get 4 compensatory picks in 2023 NFL draft

The Los Angeles Rams have grown accustomed to getting a decent number of compensatory picks in the draft and this year is no different. While the Rams won’t be picking on the first day of the draft, Over the Cap’s Nick Korte is projecting them to receive four compensatory picks in the 2023 NFL draft.

In his projections, Korte is expecting the Rams to receive a fourth-round compensatory pick for Darious Williams, a fifth-rounder for Austin Corbett, a sixth-rounder for Sebastian Joseph-Day, and a seventh-rounder for Ogbonnia Okoronkwo departing in free agency last offseason. Korte also points out that Williams’ compensatory pick is teetering between a fourth- or fifth-round pick, so there’s a chance it’s the latter.

No team can receive more than four compensatory picks in a single draft unless there’s a special compensatory pick handed out due to a team having a minority coach or executive hired by another organization. For instance, the Rams were given the max of four compensatory picks in the 2022 NFL draft and an added pick with Brad Holmes becoming the general manager of the Detroit Lions.

Given the lack of early-round picks the Rams have had in recent years, compensatory picks are a solid way for them to build out their roster. Even though the official picks won’t be announced until sometime between the Super Bowl and free agency, the Rams are expected to have four compensatory picks in this year’s draft, giving them 10 total selections.
