Rampant Celtic have Rangers terrified so it's time for Parkhead bosses to do the decent thing - Hotline

Celtic ran riot at Tannadice on Sunday and Parkhead punters reckon Rangers will be running scared ahead of this weekend’s Old Firm showdown. The Hoops demolished Dundee United 9-0 and callers are convinced Gers supporters could be set for an early finish on Saturday.

Tam Williamson, Lanarkshire, said: “ Celtic's play is so super fast. People with sight problems must only see a blur. I hope Celtic do the decent thing and only charge the Rangers support half price for their tickets next Saturday in Paradise as they will be heading for the exits long before half-time.”

Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: “No doubt the Rangers fans will be on talking up their performance on Saturday while ignoring the weekly helping hand but they were well overshadowed by the fantastic performance by the champions again." Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: “No doubt all the Rangers fans will be saying United were a disgrace but while they were poor, Celtic were absolutely brilliant. Their passing and movement was a total joy to watch and a good time to hit form with big games coming up.”

But Jim Mackenzie, East Kilbride, said: “As usual the Celtic support are living in cloud cuckoo land as they think they’ll beat Real Madrid based on them beating the most shambolic side seen in the SPFL for a decade. Remember the Brendan Rodgers 12-1 aggregate humiliation against PSG before you get so carried away.”

Edward Fraser’s glass is half empty as he said: “Although Celtic thumped Dundee United 9-0 if they make the same sloppy passes and silly mistakes against Ranger's they could get thumped themselves. Happy with the result, but there was a little complacency from Celtic so I'm not getting carried away just yet as it was Dundee United and not Rangers we thumped.”

Celtic are on Cloud Nine but United boss Jack Ross is in the depths of despair after shifting 24 goal in just five games. Neil Renton, Edinburgh, said: “With the way things are going for Jack Ross I can see him getting two seasons at Dundee United – summer and autumn.”

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “Another humiliating drubbing for Dundee United. It’s time the United board to rip up all players’ and manager’s contracts. The only thing Jack Ross is turning round is the corner to the local job centre.”

Andy Adams, Kirkcaldy, said: “Jack Ross has to go, he cannot stay any longer, for his own reputation. That performance was unacceptable, no wonder Tam Courts escaped to Hungary.”

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “Whilst I take nothing away from Celtic and a record breaking away result, what really shocks me is that Dundee Utd actually managed a European spot this season. What does this say about our flawed league?”

Meanwhile John Bruce, Glasgow, said: "Following Dundee United's record-equalling Premiership capitulation, it will be interesting to see what tactics they use and what attitude they adopt when they visit Ibrox in a few weeks. No doubt it will be the exact opposite of those used against Celtic and the usual ones used against Rangers – fighting for every ball and playing as if their very lives depended on the result. It will finally prove that anything Rangers win is by fighting for it, rather than by facing tame footballers and lame officials.”

Rangers defender James Sands dodged a red card at in the 4-0 win against Ross County on Saturday. James McClean Rothesay, said: “I don’t hear Gio van Bronckhurst shouting for VAR now after the recent refereeing decisions the last couple of weeks that his team received. Saturday’s decision was shocking. VAR can’t come quick enough so that the non Old Firm teams get a fair crack of the whip.”

Gers are flying but former boss Steven Gerrard is struggling at Aston Villa after another defeat. Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “In life you do make mistakes and it could be the case for Steven Gerrard. He looked visibly upset at the weekend and I don't think he's had his own home crowd booing him before. How things have changed for this Ibrox hero, maybe he’s now wondering why he ever left.”
