A new trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming action movie, Rampage, was released online late Tuesday. Like the first trailer, it highlights the state-of-the-art special effects that have gone into creating the animals. Rampage is an action-adventure film in which The Rock’s silverback gorilla, George, gets infected by a mysterious toxin that increases his size and causes him to behave erratically.
He’s taken away by sinister suited-booted men who want to conduct experiments on him, so The Rock, who plays a primatologist, goes on a rescue mission. But George is not the only animal to have been infected by the toxin. In Johnson’s own words, “Of course the wolf flies.”
The Rock scored the biggest hit of his career (outside the Fast & Furious franchise) with December’s $900 million success Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and now has two huge films due out in 2018 - Rampage and Skyscraper.
Both films play up the star’s involvement - Skyscraper had a variation of that famous ‘Daddy’s gotta go to work’ line, and in Rampage, The Rock warns a thug to not mess with his arms because they’re big.
Rampage is based only in name on the 1980s arcade game of the same name. It also stars Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Joe Manganiello and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The film is directed by The Rock’s San Adreas helmer, Brad Peyton, and is scheduled for an April 20 release.
