Premier League winner Tim Sherwood believes Ralf Rangnick has set up Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's next managerial role following his poor spell at Manchester United.
Rangnick, who succeed Solskjaer as interim manager in November, has failed to turn United's fortunes around since arriving in Manchester. The Red Devils are sixth in the Premier League, six points behind Arsenal in fourth having played a game more.
United's most recent defeat came at the Emirates on Saturday, as goals from Nuno Tavares, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka secured a 3-1 win for the Gunners. Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty, while Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th Premier League goal.
United could slip as low as eighth if West Ham and Wolves win their games in hand. That won't be enough for European football next season, while a seventh-place finish will see the Red Devils qualify for the Europa Conference League for the first time.
Rangnick has also failed to end United's five-year wait for silverware, losing to Championship outfit Middlesbrough in the FA Cup and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. They were dumped out of the EFL Cup by West Ham before his arrival.
Many questioned whether Rangnick's CV was good enough for United when he was appointed in November. The former Stuttgart, Schalke, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig boss has won just two major honours in management - the German Cup and German League Cup.

And Sherwood hasn't been impressed with Rangnick's work in Manchester. The German will start a two-year consultancy role at Old Trafford this summer after Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was confirmed as his long-term successor on a three-year deal.
"I think Ralf Rangnick single-handedly is going to get Ole Gunnar Solskjaer another job," Sherwood - whose last managerial position was an eight-month spell at Aston Villa seven years ago - told Sky Sports, after United's defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.
"By [Rangnick] doing so bad at the football club, it just shows you how well Ole did with these group of players. I can't say he's [Ten Hag] the correct appointment, but I think Man Utd have to give him the opportunity [to turn things around].
"He's signed a three-year contract with an extra-year option - I think he's going to need a lot longer than that to turn this club into championship contenders again because Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are way ahead.
"I don't see them [United] making any progress anytime soon, but they're going to need some help in the transfer window... it all depends on what they do in the market. It's not about how much money they spend, it's about who they bring in.
"What is glaringly obvious at Man Utd is they need some characters. I can think of players off the top of my head who can go in there and improve them straightaway - Jude Bellingham, for instance. I think Declan Rice... Christian Eriksen - for nothing - what a signing he would be. And he would improve them straight away."
