Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has backed Harry Maguire to remain the club's captain until the end of the season.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Maguire are understood to be locked in a power struggle at the club.
Maguire has come under pressure from supporters to be stripped of the captaincy following a string of woeful performances.
Ronaldo would be willing to take armband for the rest of the season - to take the pressure off the England defender as he looks to recapture his best form.
Maguire is reluctant to do that, but has denied this has led to a power struggle between himself and his Portuguese team-mate.
And Rangnick is adamant there is no problem between the two team-mates.
