Manchester United have finally scored from a corner after Ralf Rangnick 's tweaks addressed their "weird" set-piece failure.
The Red Devils became the final Premier League team to achieve the feat at their 139th attempt this season in their thrilling 4-2 win over fierce rivals Leeds at Elland Road.
Harry Maguire headed in from Luke Shaw 's in-swinging corner to open the scoring on Sunday and break the hoodoo, which had previously left Rangnick perplexed.
United's failure to score from the set piece this season has been particularly baffling given the club hired Eric Ramsey as their first-ever set-piece coach last summer.
Rangnick admitted recently that United's inefficiency from corners is an issue which has left him puzzled and is one which he has labelled "weird".
"In the end, this is a question of training time, but is also a question of deliveries," the German stated. "We have players who should be technically able to deliver the balls in the right way.
"We still need to improve in those areas, be more dangerous and effective from set-pieces.

"It's a question of training but it's also a question of quality of deliveries - even more so when it's free-kicks from the side or corner kicks."
However, the corner curse was finally broken at Elland Road on Sunday and it could, in part, be down less pressure being placed upon the team in training.
According to The Athletic, Ramsay was afforded regular time to practise with the squad, usually around 30 minutes after specific sessions, during the reign of former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Since Rangnick has arrived, those expectations have changed as he has sought a solution to his side's struggles from the set-piece.
With Kieran McKenna, Michael Carrick and Martyn Pert all having departed, Ramsay has found opportunities to work with the squad on set pieces reduced.
This comes as a result of the coach being entrusted with additional responsibilities, such as warming up United's defenders prior to matches.
However, despite having a more limited time to work with the squad on set-pieces, it appears the change has been a positive one.
While understandably relieved to have finally put an end to the corner jinx, Maguire admitted that the Red Devils' failure to score from the set-piece this season has been humiliating.
"It's embarrassing," Maguire declared after being reminded of his side's inability to score after 139 corner attempts.
"Every time I see the stat I feel embarrassed myself. I’m a big part in that set-play routine and trying to score from corners but as a team, as a group, we’ve been nowhere near good enough.
"It’s a big part of the game and for sure if we score more from corners and set-plays we’ll be higher in the table.
"I know you can play all this pretty football but set-plays are a massive part of the game and this season’s been nowhere near good enough on that behalf."
Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Anthony Elanga were also on the scoresheet for the Red Devils in their 4-2 triumph over Leeds as Rangnick's men survived a second-half scare to claim crucial three points.
