Ralf Rangnick ready to get the best from Harry Maguire and return Manchester United to top four

Manchester United are ready for arguably one of their most crucial matches of the season when they face West Ham United at Old Trafford. The game could be one of the most pivotal in the race for the top four, with United able to leapfrog West Ham with a win.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has gone for a similar line-up to the previous Premier League game against Brentford, where United won 3-1.

Man Utd: De Gea, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Telles, McTominay, Fred, Fernandes, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Elanga

West Ham: Areola, Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell, Rice, Soucek, Lanzini, Fornals, Bowen, Antonio

Captain Harry Maguire sees himself back in the starting XI again, with Victor Lindelof unavailable.

Harry Maguire is arguably United's best centre-back. The Englishman has been rated as one of the best defenders in the Premier League since his arrival at Manchester United in the summer of 2019.

His form has been off ever since England's fairy-tale run to the final of EURO 2020, but the Maguire-Varane partnership still needs time to integrate, and today's game could show the best of their potential.

Anthony Elanga gets another start. The young Swede has been the talk of the town at United, with the academy graduate taking his chance under Rangnick to become a regular starter.

Arguably, United's most in-form players under Rangnick, Scott McTominay and Fred, will have their hands full against one of the Prem's best midfielders in the form of Declan Rice.

Rice has improved massively this season, showing his box-to-box qualities that have rapidly increased his attacking output. However, many United fans will be keeping their eye on Rice, with the Englishman being seen as one of United's priority targets in the summer transfer window.

West Ham comes into this game having dropped off from their electric form to start the season. They go into the match having won only three of their last seven games in the league. Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has led West Ham to fourth in the Premier League table.

It will be intriguing to see if we can finally see the best out of the Maguire and Varane partnership, with the hope that Maguire has finally regained the form we had seen previously in a United shirt.
