Ralf Rangnick 'infuriated' by Man Utd failing to scout 'best young player in Germany'

Ralf Rangnick has been left infuriated at Manchester United after they failed to adhere to his wishes.

The interim manager at Manchester United has had a shoddy spell since taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the club dwelling in seventh in the Premier League. The defeat to Everton on Saturday means it is just one win in five league matches.

Erik ten Hag looks set to take over ahead of the summer but the Dutchman will have plenty to sort out in a short spell of time. The first order of business will be to bring in the kind of players that he wants.

But United might need a revamp of their scouting department with Rangnick already falling victim to their failings. According to ESPN, the German coach was left infuriated by their blunders in January.

The 63-year-old was keen to bolster his squad in January and asked for information of RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku. However, he was left shocked when they told him that they were not tracking the player.

That was despite Rangnick branding him "the best young player in Germany". And there are not many better players in the Bundesliga this season - the Frenchman has been in terrific form after being pushed further up the pitch.

Who should United sign in the transfer window this summer? Comment below

While the former Paris Saint-Germain star is used to playing in midfield, Domenico Tedesco has been utilising him in a more advanced position - and he has scored 27 times in 43 appearances this campaign. It has led to calls in France for him to receive a place in the national squad with Didier Deschamps tempted to add the 24-year-old to his already glistening team.

United had been linked in January but nothing materialised. And that is largely down to their scouting department which left Rangnick furious, just one of several problems at Old Trafford right now. While Ten Hag is the favourite to take over, Mauricio Pochettino has not been ruled out either.

Several players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, including Declan Rice, Harry Kane, Aurelien Tchouameni and Yves Bissouma. But United will have to splash the cash if they want to bring in wholesale changes to the squad.
