Ralf Rangnick could be hit with a fine by the FA after storming onto the pitch during Manchester United’s win over Leeds.
The United interim manager made his way onto the playing surface to intervene as both sets of players clashed late on in the game at Elland Road on Sunday.
With the visitors leading 4-2 after Anthony Elanga’s late goal, a mistimed challenge near the sideline saw things threaten to get out of hand.
With both sets of players coming together, Rangnick made his way onto the pitch to try and separate them.
However, his intervention could see him in hot water with the FA, with managers unable to enter the playing surface during a game.
Former Premier League referee Keith Hackett explained to Football Insider that the United boss could face a fine for his actions should the FA choose to punish him.
“I can remember in the 2007 Carling Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea in stoppage time there were three red cards given,” Hackett said.
“In that melee, both Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger came on the pitch and both were fined.
“While Rangnick may have good intentions he has to stay off the pitch. The technical area is for him.
“The FA have now got to do one of two things. They can send him a letter reminding him of his responsibilities within law or issue him a fine.
“He looks as though he might have had a go at the referee in relation to the Bruno Fernandes foul at some point.
“He has good intentions but you can’t do it. I get more and more convinced managers shouldn’t be allowed on the pitch even at the end of a game.
“In most countries, managers don’t come on but they do in England. It’s a trend that is one that shouldn’t happen.”
