Ralf Rangnick enjoys difficult Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard decisions at Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick is enjoying having a near fully-fit squad at his disposal, even if it makes some selection decisions difficult due to having so many options.

Manchester United have seen plenty of players sidelined throughout the season but the only outfielder who is currently out is Edinson Cavani, due to a groin injury and a stomach bug.

Otherwise, Rangnick has been boosted by Raphael Varane's return ahead of facing Leeds United on Sunday while Nemanja Matic and Eric Bailly are back in training even if they are not quite match-ready yet.

The interim manager has been able to call upon Paul Pogba for the first time since the return to action after the winter break following a lengthy absence and also revealed that Jesse Lingard is training well after he was granted some time off following the collapse of his loan exit in the January transfer window.

Rangnick admits that having so many good options can make is team selections tough but it is a nice problem to have.

“To start with, it is good and important to have Paul back again and available," the German told United's official website.

“But obviously we have a high level of competition still, we have Fred, so we have enough players, we have Jesse Lingard in good shape in training, so we still have a high level of competition in each area of the field, of the pitch - be it the backline, the midfield or up front.

“So right now, it is not easy to decide and choose the right players, but it is better this way, than having only 15 or 16 outfield players available.

“In the end, it’s the players themselves, who decide who is going to play on the next game [with their performances in training and matches].”
