Ralf Rangnick insists he has no regrets in taking over at Manchester United claiming "I would do it over and over again".
The German was appointed on an interim basis back in December but the problems at the club have seen him struggle for results. Rangnick arrived with an incredibly impressive reputation following his work in Germany, some of it as a coach and some as a sporting director.
He initially started well, even if performances were being covered up by results. But Rangnick has now won just eight of his 17 league matches - giving him the worst win percentage of any United boss in the Premier League era. He has been unable to implement the high press for which he is known and players have struggled to respond to his methods.
Erik ten Hag is set to come in this summer and take on the role permanently. United's hopes of finishing in the top four appear slim, but the German would still make the same decision if he could turn the clock back. He said: “No. No regrets whatsoever. I would do it over and over again,” he told reporters.
“I don’t regret that at all. As a manager you always have to question and ask yourself what you could have done better, if I could have played with a different formation in certain games, if a substitution could have been done earlier. This is what always happens we always ask question ourselves what we could have done better.
"I think we are all aware it’s not an easy squad, the whole situation was not easy or I would not be sitting here and Ole would probably still be here. Again, I think we have shown in the past couple of months we were able to raise the level but not in the same sustainable way that I would have wished. That’s the reason I’m not happy at all with what we’ve done and achieved so far.”

Defeat last time out at Everton was another nail in the United coffin. They are now six points off Tottenham in fourth with seven games remaining. Any thoughts of a late charge towards the top four have been undermined by draws with Leicester City and Watford.
They also lost the Manchester derby in embarrassing fashion whilst they have been knocked out of the Champions League and the FA Cup during Rangnick's spell. The German has said ahead that he feels certain players at Old Trafford are finding it hard to cope with the pressure that comes with playing for the Red Devils.
He claimed: “It seems to be like that, that the level of expectation is high and some of the players seem to struggle with their own performance. But, again, there are no alibis and no excuses. We have to be ready to cope and deal with it."
