Ralf Rangnick claims he is still happy to help Manchester United amid reports he is due to take over as the next Austria boss.
The German arrived at Old Trafford in December and was placed in temporary charge until the end of the season, at which point he would take up a consultancy role with the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag has been announced as the next United boss and will take over in the summer.
Rangnick has not had the desired affect at the Premier League outfit, but his reputation remains strong back in his homeland. He has also worked in a role with Red Bull Salzburg, who have recently dominated the Austrian domestic scene. A report from the Daily Mail claims that Rangnick is considering an offer from the Austrian FA, with claims from Vienna stating he could be announced as soon as Friday morning.
The German has responded to speculation, but gave little away as he told Sky Sports : "I am more than happy and willing to help". He also added that his next role with the club would leave space for a job elsewhere. When quizzed by Bein Sports he said: "I think let's speak about Manchester United and I only want to put my focus on the game".
Austrian football chiefs are now the lookout for a new manager after Franco Foda resigned from the role in March following the World Cup play-off defeat by Wales. Gareth Bale scored both goals in a 2-1 victory to send them through to the final qualifying round, where they will face Scotland or Ukraine.
Rangnick's consultancy role in Manchester is not thought to be an issue, reports the Athletic, who claim the 63-year-old is set to juggle both roles. The German has won just ten of his 26 games since replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, giving him a win percentage of just 38.
United's latest game under their interim boss saw them come from behind to draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo rescued a point for the hosts as he scored two minutes after Marcos Alonso had given the Blues the lead.
Rangnick added on the performance: "We showed a good reaction in the second half, and it was a great finish from Cristiano Ronaldo. In the first half we had our problems and we needed a few great saves from David de Gea. Second half we did better and we got more control.
"You could see they are a top team, no coincidence they won the Champions League and we don't have much confidence and had eight players missing. Although it was still a lucky draw, we earned it. At times we saw the gap, but they played with their best XI and we had players missing."
