Manchester United have been handed an injury boost ahead of their clash with West Ham on Saturday afternoon with Scott McTominay set to be fit for the match.
McTominay was replaced by Nemanja Matic late in Manchester United's game against Brentford with the Scotland international clutching his lower back as he was substituted.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick confirmed that the central midfielder was replaced due to the issue but believes the 25-year-old will be fit to face the Hammers on Saturday afternoon.
"He got a knock on the back and couldn't breathe properly," Rangnick told t he club website.
"I spoke to him in the locker room [after] and he should be okay for Saturday."
Manchester United were fortunate not to be behind at the break after Brentford dominated the first half but Rangnick's team eventually ran out 3-1 winners and sit two points behind West Ham.
The Red Devils were without Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw for the victory over Brentford with the striker suffering from a 'muscular problem' and Shaw a 'hamstring' issue. There has been no update on whether either player will be fit for the Hammers visit.
Jadon Sancho missed out in midweek for personal reasons and should be back for the West Ham clash.
West Ham have no new injury worries ahead of the trip to Old Trafford with Tomas Soucek and Kurt Zouma set to be in contention following COVID isolation and injury issues. Mark Noble missed out against Leeds and Norwich and football.london understands the captain was close to a return last weekend.
Angelo Ogbonna and Said Benrahma will not be involved on Saturday with Ogbonna ruled out for the season and Benrahma away on AFCON duty with Algeria.
