Manchester United will grant the majority of their players time off next week during the international break.
The Reds face West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, but will then go 13 days without a game before they host Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth round.
Fifa has created a one-off international break during the two-week gap in order for non-Uefa national sides to catch up on World Cup qualifiers which had to be postponed last year.
It means Fred, Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani will all head away on international duty next week, while Eric Bailly and Hannibal could still be away on African Cup of Nations duty.
The rest of the United squad will instead be given some time off to recharge before another packed fixture schedule, with the Champions League knockout rounds returning next month.
United had considered an overseas training camp during the international break but it was ruled out due to the ever-changing coronavirus regulations across the globe.
“We will give the players a couple of days of rest, because it doesn’t make sense to train for two weeks," Rangnick told official club media.
"To travel to a training camp with the COVID regulations would also have been difficult. That’s why we decided to give them a couple of days off and then prepare for a normal week of training for the cup game against Middlesbrough.”
