Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has revealed that Jesse Lingard will leave the club amid reported transfer interest from Newcastle United this month.
The 29-year-old has under six months left on his contract but could be available to leave the Red Devils in the current transfer window as he searches for regular first-team football.
A number of Premier League clubs are supposedly keen to sign Lingard, including West Ham United and the Magpies, who are hopeful to complete a deal between now and deadline day.
It is understood that Newcastle would have to pay in excess over £15million to take the England international to the club for the remainder of the season, which they aren't willing to spend.
Despite this, Lingard is still expected to leave after Rangnick appeared to suggest he will definitely be going in the summer while signing autographs for fans.
Asked by one supporter about Lingard, Rangnick was filmed on TikTok saying 'he will leave in the summer'.
Since Rangnick was appointed as the club's new interim manager in November, Lingard has made just one start in all competitions, featuring from the bench on two occasions.
In fact, the former West Ham loanee has played for just 95 minutes under the German boss, with Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.
During his time at the Red Devils, Lingard has scored 35 goals in 224 appearances but did enjoy a successful loan spell at the Hammers last season, where he netted nine times in 16 matches.
United have already rejected offers for Lingard from West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur because they are direct rivals for a Champions League place.
But Newcastle are still keen on completing a deal for the former Leicester City midfielder before the end of the month as Eddie Howe aims to bolster his squad in a bid to stay in the top-flight.
Newcastle have made two signings so far in the window, with Kieran Trippier joining from Atletico Madrid, while Burnley forward Chris Wood made the move in a £25million deal.
With just under a week to go until deadline day, time is running out for the Magpies to do anymore business, but Lingard is someone who they are still tracking.
