Ralf Rangnick answers Paul Pogba's Manchester United question as Erik ten Hag speaks out on future

Here are your Manchester United headlines for Friday, April 1.

Ralf Rangnick responds to Paul Pogba comments

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has given Paul Pogba short shrift after he complained about his failure to have a defined role at club level. His revelation came during the international break, Pogba questioned 'at United, do I really have a role? I ask the question and I don't have the answer'.

It's been a rollercoaster season for most of the players, the Frenchman included. He was dropped in United's last game, as they were knocked out by Atletico Madrid and missed three months of the season with a thigh injury - which he picked up with Didier Deschamps' side.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at United on June 30 and is widely expected to leave the club after six years with the club. As Premier League action returns, Pogba will be needed in order to fulfil United's ambition of maintaining their position in the Champions League, as they sit four points off Arsenal.

Erik ten Hag breaks his silence on his future

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag remained coy on the subject of potentially becoming Manchester United's next permanent manager, admitting that he doesn't want to "rule anything out" concerning his future. The Dutchman is the preferred candidate to land the role, was interviewed for the job just over a week ago and is the firm favourite to replace Ralf Rangnick this summer.

Ten Hag has been linked with the job at Old Trafford for several months and is a popular choice among supporters. The battle to land the managerial hot-seat at Old Trafford looks set to be a straight shoot-out between Ten Hag and Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine is keen on the position and was prepared to leave the French giants mid-season back in November to return to England, two years after he was relieved of his Spurs duties. But for the moment, the Eredivisie winner remains the bookies favourite.
