Friday looks set to be another day with wet conditions, according to the latest forecast from Met Eireann.
The rain seems here to stay for the weekend, with spot flooding possible.
It will be a “breezy and blustery” start to the day today, the national forecaster has said, with widespread showers that will merge into longer periods of rain.
In fact, some heavy downpours are expected to hit around the country, particularly in the south. Nonetheless, Met Eireann said there will be “dry interludes” as well.
The forecast said: “Some heavy downpours are likely, especially in southern parts, but dry interludes will occur too.”
Temperatures will reach highs of 13 and 16 during the day, with fresh to strong and gusty winds.
Deirdre Lowe from Met Eireann said: “We have areas of low pressure dominating our weather now for the next several days. They will be feeding up bands of showery rain from time to time, which could bring some spot flooding to parts.
“However, there will be some gaps in the rain too. Temperatures will remain above normal for late October, so there is no frost to worry about just yet. Where the sun does come out, it will feel quite mild.”
The rain is here to stay for the evening, and although no weather warnings are in operation, Met Eireann said there is a chance of spot flooding in places.
Tonight’s forecast said: “Showers or longer spells of rain will continue in the north and northwest overnight with some spot flooding possible.”
It is expected to clear up slightly from the south upwards. Met Eireann said: “It will turn drier further south with some clear spells.”
The lowest temperatures will stay between seven and 11 degrees, with moderate to fresh winds.
Tomorrow will also be a rainy day, particularly in the north and northwest, though it is expected to “gradually ease off during the day”.
“Further south, there will be a dry bright spell of weather for a time, before more showery rain moves up from the south during the afternoon and evening,” the forecast for Saturday said.
It is to, once again, turn wet and even misty tomorrow night, with spot flooding and heavy rain expected in parts. Temperatures will dip slightly to between nine and 12 degrees.
