CINCINNATI — The Cubs and Reds’ series finale Wednesday was postponed due to rain, after a delay that lasted an hour and 35 minutes.

The game has been moved to Sept. 1, when the Cubs return to Cincinnati for a weekend series. The teams will now play a split doubleheader on Sept. 1, with the first game scheduled for 12:10 p.m. CT and the second for 5:40 p.m. Both will be nine-inning regulation games, which MLB went back to last year after two seasons of seven-inning double headers.

The postponement pushes back the Cubs’ rotation in order. The Cubs have an off day Thursday, before facing the Rangers at home Friday through Sunday. Right-hander Marcus Stroman, who was originally scheduled to start Wednesday, is the Cubs’ probable pitcher for Friday, followed by Justin Steele and Jameson Taillon on Saturday and Sunday.
