Fortunately, the two main courts, Court Philippe-Chatrier and Court Suzanne Lenglen, have retractable roofs, allowing some play to continue despite the weather conditions. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, fresh off her fifth grand slam title win last month, is currently competing on Philippe-Chatrier against Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu. Swiatek has taken an early lead, winning the first set 6-2.
Olympic participation seems to run in Swiatek's family, as her father, Tomasz, represented Poland in rowing at the 1988 Games in Seoul. He finished seventh in the quadruple skulls event. Swiatek expressed her excitement at the prospect of winning an Olympic gold medal, calling it a 'dream come true.'
