Rain And Wind Expected To Impact Washington, DC Area

The current temperature at Reagan National Airport is 45 degrees with breezy yet clear conditions as search efforts continue across the Potomac River. Overnight, temperatures are expected to drop to just below freezing by 6 a.m.

Looking ahead to Thursday, the high temperature is forecasted to reach around 50 degrees with clear skies in the morning and increasing clouds in the afternoon.

As Thursday progresses, an approaching storm will bring rainfall to the area. A slight chance of showers is expected by 9 p.m., with steady rain anticipated by 1 a.m. on Friday. Throughout Friday, rainy and gusty conditions are expected, with peak wind and rain occurring between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Approximately an inch of rainfall and gusts up to 22 mph are forecasted.

By Friday night, the rainfall will gradually diminish in the Washington, DC, area and is likely to taper off by early Saturday morning. Saturday will see clearing skies, but temperatures will only reach 48 degrees.

The weekend and early next week are expected to be rain-free, with high temperatures in the upper 40s on Sunday and the lower 60s on Monday. Water temperatures are projected to remain in the mid-30s throughout this period.
