Train strikes next week could mean Lanarkshire residents may be unable to attend large events across the country.
ScotRail has said that up to 90 per cent of its services will be cancelled when a UK-wide strike by signal workers takes place next week.
Members of the RMT union working for Network Rail are due to take action next Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
This is on top of a temporary timetable currently in place by ScotRail over an ongoing pay dispute.
Next Saturday, June 24 sees Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro playing a headline gig at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh.
For those planning on attending the gig, the last direct train from Edinburgh to Motherwell that day is at 7:12pm, nearly four hours before the concert is scheduled to finish.
And the last train to other Lanarkshire towns such as Shotts, Cleland, Bellshill, Uddingston and Cambuslang is at 5:58pm, just under an hour after the doors to the event open.
The strikes will also affect the Royal Highland Show, which runs from June 23 to June 26.
Other transport options for people attending the Royal Highland Show and Biffy Clyro are taxis, driving, or the 900 CityLink bus service, which makes stops at Harthill Services and EuroCentral.
ScotRail's service delivery director David Simpson said: "Customers should expect significant disruption to services next week, including on the days between strike action.
"On the five routes where we are able to operate a very limited service on strike days, we're advising customers to seek alternative means of transport and to only travel if they really need to."
