It didn’t take long for Jakobi Meyers to make an impact. In his first game with the Las Vegas Raiders, he led the team in receptions (9), yards (81) and touchdowns (2). It’s clear that he and Jimmy Garoppolo have fantastic chemistry and that he is a perfect fit as the No. 2 receiver to Davante Adams.
In a recent article by Paul Gutierrez of ESPN, he wrote about the performance by Meyers in Week 1 as he named him one of the biggest winners of the week. Here is a snippet of what he had to say about the veteran receiver in Year 5:
Buy Raiders TicketsWith the chemistry shown between Meyers and Garoppolo, you would have thought they played together in New England. Alas, Meyers was not a Patriot until two years after Garoppolo left. Still, Meyers had two touchdown catches among his game-high nine receptions, for 81 yards, before leaving after taking a blow to the head in the fourth quarter.
The hope is that Meyers can be ready to go in Week 2 when the Raiders take on the Bills in Buffalo. They need him to be the reliable No. 2 option in the passing game with opponents focusing so much on stopping Adams. If Meyers can stay healthy, he is going to have a career year in Las Vegas with the Raiders.
