Raiders WR Davante Adams sees assault charges dropped, case closed

You may remember the Raiders’ heartbreaking 30-29 loss to the Chiefs at Arrowhead last season. You may also remember that it ended with two incomplete passes for Davante Adams — one overturned on review and the other due to a collision with Hunter Renfrow. You may remember this series of events leading to an altercation between Adams and a production crew member who ran in front of Adams on his way off the field.

Adams was clearly — and understandably — frustrated after the way the game ended. The crew member should not have been there. He ran into Adams who appears to reflexively thrust his arms out as the crew member impeded the receiver’s path to the locker room. The crew member then fell to the ground and Adams continued on his way into the tunnel.

Days later, misdemeanor assault charges were filed against Adams. On June 5, those charges were dismissed by prosecutors and according to a report in the Kansas City Star, that case is now officially closed.

Adams isn’t entirely out of the woods though. The man Adams shoved — who was carrying equipment for a local production company contracted by ESPN — still has a civil case filed against Adams, the Raiders, and the Chiefs which he filed last May.
