Coming out of their Week 7 bye, the hope was that the Raiders could go on a bit of a run and get back to .500. With a relatively easy November schedule, maybe the Raiders could put themselves in the Wild Card chase by Thanksgiving.
Unfortunately, things have not gone that way as the Raiders have now lost back-to-back road games. Sitting at 2-6, they are tied for the third-worst record in the NFL through Week 9.
According to our friends at Tankathon, the Raiders would currently own the No. 3 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft if the season ended today. They are just slightly ahead of the Panthers, who sit at 2-7 and the Texans at 1-6-1.
The Raiders don’t have much playoff hope at this point unless they go on a major run. But considering what we have seen at this point, it’s hard to even fathom how that would happen.
It is shocking, but the Raiders have a legitimate chance to own the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. And if that does happen, there is a good chance the Raiders will have a new starting quarterback next year.
