Earlier this week, we learned that the Raiders would interview Patriots’ linebacker coach Jerod Mayo for their head coaching vacancy. That was the first official interview that was reported.
However, it was always assumed that interim coach Bich Bisaccia would get a chance to interview for the job. That interview will take place today (Wednesday) with the brass of the Raiders.
The #Raiders will conduct their interview with interim coach Rich Bisaccia today for their head coach job, source said. His chance to stake his claim.

It’s fascinating that the Raiders will continue to conduct head coaching interviews despite not having a general manager. They are reportedly meeting with several GM candidates this week, but the standard operating procedure is to have the general manager in place when looking for a new head coach.
Bisaccia should be able to make a good case that he should be the team’s head coach. They went 7-5 with him as the interim coach and they won their final four games to make the playoffs. He is certainly loved in the locker room and players such as Maxx Crosby and Darren Waller have publicly voiced their hope that he remains the coach.
It still seems a bit unlikely that Bisaccia will end up being the long-term coach in Las Vegas, but he is certainly in the running. With a good interview on Wednesday, he could be that much closer to securing his first-ever head coaching job at any level.
It’s also possible that if Bisaccia doesn’t get the head coaching job with the Raiders, he could return as the special teams coach. That remains to be seen, but don’t count out the possibility that Bisaccia will be with the Raiders in 2022 in some capacity.
