It’s no secret that the Raiders are going to be aggressive searching for their next franchise quarterback this offseason. Could that mean that the Raiders could make a move into the top 10 for their next QB?
In a recent mock draft by Dan Parr of NFL Media, he posted a mock draft with the Raiders trading up from No. 13 to No. 10 to select Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy. Here is why he believes that McCarthy would make a lot of sense for Las Vegas:
You really think Michigan Man and soon-to-be Raiders minority owner Tom Brady is going to let McCarthy fall to the Vikings at No. 11 or the rival Broncos at No. 12? Not happening. Vegas goes all in on the national title winner.
McCarthy might be one of the biggest risers this month as he has separated himself from Bo Nix (Oregon) and Michael Penix Jr. (Washington). The only question now is if he can surpass one of the top three quarterbacks in this class.
McCarthy is pretty raw, but he has all of the tools to be an elite quarterback at the next level. He could really benefit from a year of sitting behind an established starter, but that wouldn’t be the case in Las Vegas. Still, McCarthy might be the best possible option for the Raiders in Round 1.
