The Raiders are in Southern California for training camp and today they brought in a receiver pretty familiar with the area. The team signed former Chargers WR Terrell Bynum Monday.
Bynum is not just familiar with the very field where the Raiders are holding camp — it’s the same place his former team held camp prior to this year — but he probably just has to drive down the street to get there.
The former USC Trojan is a Long Beach native attended high school in Anaheim and Bellflower. So, joining the Raiders has him sticking around the area he’s quite familiar with.
Bynum was signed by the Chargers last offseason as an undrafted free agent out of USC, after spending his first four college seasons at Washington. Which means he was chosen by Tom Telesco and now Telesco has brought him back to join him with the Raiders.
Bynum spent all of last season with the Chargers, appearing in one game. He spent the season on the team’s practice squad. He most recently was part of the Colts’ offseason roster. He was waived on May 10.
To make room for the addition of Bynum, the Raiders waived LB Darius Butler with a failed physical designation.
