One of the reasons why the Raiders had success on offense in Week 6 was due to their offensive line. According to Pro Football Focus, they allowed just four pressures the entire game.
The unit is still struggling to create lanes in the run game, but they’ve done a good job in back-to-back weeks in pass protection. One of the reasons why that’s been the case has been due to the solid play at right tackle.
The Raiders were forced to play second-year tackle Thayer Munford after Jemaine Elumunor left with an injury. But there was no dropoff at all between the two players on Sunday, which shows just how good the depth is of this offensive line:
The Raiders’ offensive line gave up just four pressure — and no sacks — on 33 dropbacks and ranked fourth in the NFL in pass-blocking efficiency in Week 6.
Munford played well on Sunday as he did not allow a single pressure on 44 snaps. He even graded out slightly better as a run blocker (71.8) than Elumunor (54.4). It’s a small sample size, but at least something to note from Week 6.
This isn’t to suggest that the Raiders should consider making a change right now, but that Munford has proven to be an adequate swing tackle for Las Vegas. But if Munford continues to play this well when he is on the field, maybe it should be a conversation.
