Nate Hobbs missed the team’s Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers due to an ankle injury. And he might be in danger of missing the team’s Week 5 game on Monday Night Football after not practicing on Thursday. That would be a big loss as Hobbs has easily been the team’s best cornerback this season.
According to Pro Football Focus, Hobbs is allowed just 6.9 yards per completion this year, which is among the lowest in the NFL. Heading into Week 5, he’s ranked as the No. 27 cornerback in the league after the first month of the year:
Buy Raiders TicketsHobbs didn’t play in Week 4. He’s allowed 18 catches, but they have gone for just 125 yards. He has forced four incompletions this year.
Without Hobbs on the field, the Raiders are forced to lean on Amik Robertson and Tyler Hall in the slot. And in two cornerback sets, that means Jakorian Bennett (rookie) has to be on the field a lot more.
There has been a massive dropoff at cornerback when Hobbs isn’t on the field. Here is to hoping that he can return to practice and the field quickly as he’s arguably their best player in the secondary.
