The Las Vegas Raiders were significantly better on defense than anyone could have anticipated. But that doesn’t mean they won’t try to significantly rebuild that unit this offseason.
In a recent mock draft by Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus, he had the Raiders going defense in Round 1. With the No. 12 selection, Sikkema had the Raiders selecting Clemson CB Nate Wiggins. Here is a snippet of what he had to say about the pick:
The Raiders could be in the quarterback market, but with four already gone in this mock, I have them looking elsewhere (Aidan O’Connell hive, stand up). They could go interior defensive line, but a shutdown cornerback is our pick. At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Wiggins has the size-athleticism combo to line up against any type of receiver.
The Raiders still have Jack Jones, Nate Hobbs, and Jakorian Bennett under contract for the 2024 season, but Wiggins has all the makings of a No. 1 cornerback in the NFL. Look for the Raiders to be aggressive in upgrading their secondary this offseason.
