It’s been leaning this way for the past few days. After a long meeting on Friday, the Raiders are expected to name former Patriots personnel man Dave Ziegler as their new General Manager according to NFT media’s Ian Rapoport.
The #Raiders are expected to hire #Patriots de facto GM Dave Ziegler as their new GM, per, @MikeGarafolo and @TomPelissero. He was key in New England’s fast turnaround, now turns his attention to Las Vegas. The next step is slated to be the hire of Josh McDaniels as head coach.

Ziegler is referred to as the Patriots de facto GM because Bill Belichick holds to the title of head coach and General Manager. Belichick was recently named the PFWA Executive of the Year.
Ziegler’s official title is director of player personnel. A title he held for just one year with the Patriots. He spent the previous year as assistant director of player personnel and the three years prior as director of pro personnel.
As Rapoport notes, this news figures to lead to the team also hiring Patriots OC Josh McDaniels as their next head coach. Another move that had been expected should the team go with Ziegler as GM. The two seemingly coming over as a package deal from New England.
