Nirmal: Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi alleged during an election campaign held here on Sunday that the BJP intends to abolish reservations if it comes to power in the Lok Sabha elections.
Rahul criticized the BJP's alleged agenda to favour the wealthy while undermining the rights of the poor. He questioned the discrepancy in responses when comparing Congress's proposal to waive farmers' crop loans with the BJP's actions in waiving loans for corporates. Rahul framed the elections as a choice between Congress, aiming to protect the Constitution, and another group seeking to alter it.
Asserting a commitment to people-centric governance in Telangana, Rahul promised financial support for women and expedited solutions to tribal issues under a Congress-led government at the Centre. He pledged to conduct caste census and economic surveys and advocated for the removal of the 50 per cent reservation limit.
Rahul criticized the BJP-led NDA government for allegedly favouring the wealthy and accused them of engaging in divisive politics. He reiterated Congress's commitment to the welfare of SCs, STs, and OBCs.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed his dedication to the development of Adilabad, promising to reopen the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI). He announced plans to credit Rythu Bharosa funds to farmers' accounts by May 9 and to waive crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15.
Reddy highlighted the successful implementation of five out of six guarantees by the Congress government and criticized the BJP's alleged lack of action in Telangana during their 10-year tenure.
Minister Seethakka and others participated in the meeting.
