Raheem Sterling sent clear Chelsea instruction amid Graham Potter and Todd Boehly £125m decision

Raheem Sterling could be set for a difficult challenge to get back into the Chelsea starting XI after four new forwards were acquired by the Blues in January. David Datro Fofana, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke were all welcomed to the club in the winter window with the latter three all starting against West Ham.

Since his move from Manchester City, Sterling had been a regular in the Chelsea team but injury struck at the worst possible time with the Englishman going off after less than five minutes against his old club at the beginning of the year.

In his absence, Mudryk, Felix and Madueke have all shown flashes of their quality, however Sterling was welcomed back into the fold for the Stamford Bridge clash against Fulham just over 10 days ago.

The following week though the 28-year-old was missing from the matchday squad to face West Ham after suffering a setback in the week, as revealed by Potter. "Raheem [Sterling] he had a little kick in training on the side of his knee, so we're assessing him".

With Sterling also nowhere to be seen in training images released by the club, the former Liverpool winger now faces a race against time to be fit for Chelsea's Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

The arrival of new faces doesn't quite place Sterling in a similar place to Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic who appear primed for summer departures, but it would be foolish to ignore the impact those signings may have on his game time.

Bacary Sagna, a former teammate of Sterling, has now addressed that situation specifically sending a clear instruction to the four-time Premier League winner.

"Raheem Sterling should not leave Chelsea, he needs to fight for his position," Sagna told Boyle Sports. "Where else would he go? There are not many better teams than Chelsea, they're obviously transitioning and rebuilding now, I trust Sterling to find his way there.

"I'm not worried about the signings of Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix not allowing Sterling to get game time because he's a special player."
