Raheem Sterling has put his future on hold until the summer to help Manchester City ’s push for silverware.
England star Sterling, 27, has been linked with AC Milan amid reports in Italy of a potential $1.1billion (£850m) takeover by a Bahrain investment fund who have got the City forward on a wish list of big-name signings. But Sterling - whose current deal at the Etihad expires in 2023 - is very happy at the Etihad, is fully focused on helping City’s bid for silverware and his only thoughts are on trying to retain the Premier League title and win the club’s first Champions League.
Sterling has spoken in the past about potentially playing in Spain in the future but has never said the same about Italy, and there has been no contact between AC Milan and the player’s representatives. City star Sterling did speak earlier in the season about his frustrations over a lack of playing time but since then has forced his way back into the starting line-up and, when he is playing, he is very happy and content at the Etihad.

Sterling has been one of City’s most important players this season and is enjoying another impressive campaign for club and country, scoring 16 goals in all competitions. Sterling has made it clear that his only priority is to be starting on a regular basis and if he is playing regularly at City, then he is happy and also determined to be settled ahead of the World Cup later this year.
Relations between City and Sterling are in a very good place and Etihad boss Pep Guardiola has been rich in his praise for the forward, who broke into the club’s top 10 scorers of all time earlier this season. Sterling will not be distracted by any talk about his future or even overtures from other clubs because City is his priority and they see him as a key player.
Contract negotiations are likely at the end of the season but Sterling’s focus now is on the dual challenge of winning the Premier League and Champions League.
