Raheem Sterling outlines challenge facing Man City in Premier League title race

Raheem Sterling insisted Manchester City won’t be resting on their laurels despite taking another step towards defending the Premier League title.

Sterling took home the match ball as City extended their lead at the top of the table with a comprehensive 4-0 win at Norwich.

The England international scored a perfect hat-trick as the visitors made light work of their task once again, with Phil Foden also on the scoresheet at Carrow Road.

The result puts City 12 points ahead of nearest rivals Liverpool once again, with the Reds in action on Sunday against Burnley and still with a game in hand.

Nevertheless, City are overwhelming favourites to defend their title, although Sterling isn’t getting too far ahead of himself.

“We said last week we’ve got to take it one step at a time,” Sterling told Sky Sports.

“It was a difficult game against Brentford, and we knew we just had to keep chipping away at it.

“Just consistency, that mindset to keep wanting to do better, wanting to win, not resting on our laurels, and that’s the only way we’re going to get better.

“To be a top team, it’s every three days, that’s the challenge for us, to keep winning every three days.”

Sterling’s hat-trick saw him bring an end to his short goal drought in style, having gone the previous five games with a goal.

“It’s football, you’re going to get chances, you’re not going to score everything that comes your way,” Sterling added.

“You’ve just got to keep going in the right areas, keep shooting, and the goals will come.”
