Raheem Sterling gives honest insight into Chelsea dressing room atmosphere as struggles continue

Chelsea star Raheem Sterling has revealed that players have been left stunned by their poor form and results this season. The England international has found life at Stamford Bridge difficult in his debut season with the Blues after completing a £50million move from Manchester City last summer.

Sterling became the first signing of the Todd Boehly era back in July but has failed to emulate the form he showed at the Etihad Stadium for years that made him a regular in Manchester City's title-winning teams. The 28-year-old has scored just four goals in the Premier League in a rollercoaster season at Stamford Bridge.

13 players were signed after Sterling's arrival at Chelsea but they remain languishing down in the bottom half of the table and will finish the 2022/23 campaign without a trophy. The Blues are unlikely to secure European football for next season after suffering five straight defeats under caretaker manager Frank Lampard.

Sterling has now opened up on how the players have reacted to their shocking form and results this term but admits he is 'up for the challenge' to turn it around. In an interview with The Sun, Sterling admitted: "Sometimes you have lows.

"I haven’t been in this situation in my career so far but I am more than up to the challenge. We are disappointed when we come off the pitch and feel angry and disappointed.

"There are times when we finish a game you just sit in the changing room looking into space because you can’t understand what has just happened."

Sterling insisted he has no regrets over leaving the reigning Premier League champions last summer. The England international added: "That’s the beautiful thing.

"I enjoyed my time at my previous club and won a lot of trophies. But I like a new challenge and this is the challenge I signed up for.

"It’s a challenge I will overcome. It will taste even sweeter to win silverware coming from a moment like this than if you were winning every single week."
