Raheem Sterling became the first English Chelsea player to score at a World Cup since Joe Cole against Sweden in 2006. The 16-year curse was ended by Sterling, who rounded off an incredible attacking move that included some neat play by Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.
In a rampant first half by Gareth Southgate's side, England netted three goals to kickstart England's World Cup campaign in dazzling fashion.
Sterling was one of many England players who impressed in the first 59 minutes of a long first half. England began in a 4-3-3 with fellow Chelsea peer Mason Mount starting in a midfield trio alongside Declan Rice and the opening scorer Bellingham.

Sterling has received criticism for recent displays at Chelsea since his £45m transfer from Manchester City in July but has netted five goals for the Blues already this season.
A regular for Southgate, his first World Cup goal means he has now scored as many for England as Jermaine Defoe and more than David Beckham and Paul Scholes.
