Raheem Sterling and Reece James send subtle Chelsea transfer message to Jude Bellingham

Since Boehly-Clearlake took over Chelsea almost 12-months ago, there has been a running theme when it comes to recruitment. Not only are the signings young with potential for the future, but they have all said the exact same message when joining the club from elsewhere.

That being that the project was a huge draw for them, with the ideas of Todd Boehly and his fellow executives clearly striking a chord with them. It's not only the players that have had thoughts along these lines though, with manager Graham Potter echoing a similar sentiment when taking the leap from Brighton.

“It’s really exciting, the project here is really exciting," the Chelsea boss said upon joining the club in September. "The ideas [they had] about taking the club forward. It felt really positive. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a whirlwind in terms of getting to know people, leaving Brighton, getting to know the players, getting to know them, but it’s been really, really positive."

While there may be questions over the execution of such a project so far under the new owners, if they can still tempt players across with the project then it can be built properly. One of the biggest challenges may be convincing Jude Bellingham to make the switch from Borussia Dortmund.

The England international looks set to be a generational talent, having plenty of experience at just 19 years old with the talent and personality to back it up. It's no surprise that the Blues find themselves in a transfer battle with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool for his signature.

Ultimately, with his pick of the bunch, Bellingham will have to pick the one club that will suit him and would have to be sold on the project and the environment. Some of the Chelsea players may have had a chance to do just that over the international break, but it goes one step further.

Both Raheem Sterling and Reece James were seen commenting under a post from Bellingham on Instagram with clapping emojis to show support for the week he has had with the Three Lions. With the pair being key leadership figures at both club and international level, the subtlety of such a potential transfer message shouldn't be overlooked.

While it's support for a fellow compatriot, it also underlines the togetherness of the squad and how the project at Chelsea will move forward.
