Raging Chris Sutton blasts Borna Barisic for Rangers 'dive' in red card verdict

Chris Sutton has claimed that Borna Barisic dived to try and claim a penalty for Rangers during today's Scottish Cup semi-final.

The Croatian full-back hit the deck as he advanced into the box past Kyogo Furuhashi.

Replays showed there was no contact between the players, but Barisic did find himself on the ground.

Referee Don Robertson allowed play to continue, but Sutton reckons Barisic should have been awarded a second yellow card after he was previously booked for a late challenge in the first half.

Sutton said: "I tell you what, he has a little shift there. I think he's asking for a penalty, or does he dive? And if he does dive, it would be a second yellow."

Ally McCoist then responded, saying: If he dives it's a yellow card. I'm not sure he's looking for it Chris, is he?"

Sutton then concluded by saying: "That's a dive!"

Celtic took the lead 42 minutes into a tight first half when Jota capitalised on some sloppy play from Rangers.

Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin stopped awaiting a whistle after barging Matt O’Riley but Robertson played on.

Borna Barisic was equally static and Daizen Maeda nipped in front of the Gers left-back before whipping in a cross which Jota headed home from close range.

Referee Willie Collum withdrew from the Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Rangers after pulling up in the warm-up.

Fourth official Don Robertson stepped up to take charge of the Hampden clash.

Celtic had Jota and Reo Hatate back in their team following injury while Rangers had Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent fit again.
